"Faces of Diversity"

Keystone Opportunity Center, 104 Main St, Souderton

The mission of Keystone Opportunity Center is "to help community members in need by offering a comprehensive array of social services that educate, encourage and empower them to become self-sufficient."  Keystone asked us to create 6 panels that would reflect the individual parts of their mission in the community and also provide privacy for their board room and training room which face Main St.  These panels incorporate a combination of paint and tile mosaic.  The painted portions represent a specific function of Keystone in the community and the tile mosaics (shaped like paper cutouts) depict a small sampling of the widely varied people they help on a day-to-day basis.  A 7th panel was created to hang inside Keystone near the entrance.  This piece was inspired by Van Gogh's Starry Night and completed entirely by local children including girlscouts, boyscouts, and the Kidz Kan group.  Clay letters spelling out "Keystone Opportunity Center" were made and donated by Eric Boynton from Clayrat Studios.

"We Are Here"

Souderton Borough Hall storage building facing Souderton Park

This mural is 8 feet tall and 12 feet wide.  The Souderton Borough maintenance crew was kind enough to mount the panels to the wall and prime them for us (Thanks guys!).

As our first real project for our newly-formed committee, we wanted this piece to be about the Indian Valley as well as announcing that we're here and we're ready to create!  We Are Here is an abstracted topographical map of the Indian Valley.  The red rectangle shows Souderton Park (at scale size) and the marker stating "We are Here" points directly to the point you're standing on as you view the mural.

These images show some of our completed projects and a progression of how they were created from sketches to finished public art.
